Nicola Burford

Biography

One of Australia's top artists, Nicola Burford has more than 15 years experience in the international makeup industry, creating looks for celebrities including Fergie and The Black Eyed Peas, Dita Von Teese and Emmy Award winning actress Jane Lynch. Since 2001 she's been a favourite working alongside the worlds leading makeup artists at international collections including Donna Karan and Oscar De La Renta in New York, Alexander McQueen, Chloe, Balenciaga, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood in Paris, and Missoni, Pucci, DSquared and Salvatorre Ferragamo in Milan.

 

As director, Nicola led teams of artists for Australian Fashion Week in Sydney /Melbourne and for local designers including Nicola Finetti and Akira Isagowa. Nicola was team leader for top music tours including Missy Elliot, The Black Eyed Peas and Christina Aguilera together with music, film festivals and award shows in Australia and overseas.

She became the first ever makeup director for the Sydney Dance Company.
Nicola is a respected beauty authority and popular spokesperson, being regularly interviewed for TV shows and contributing to leading magazines and newspapers in Australia and internationally.
She created the blog "Pout & About" for NineMSN and she's a prolific writer for websites including Beauty Heaven, Primped where she is the online Makeup Expert and Beauty Editor for Pages Digital.

During a decade-long association with MAC Cosmetics, Nicola became an influential Senior Artist, acting as an ambassador for the brand in a global capacity, both mentoring and training fellow artists in the technique of their craft.
A key makeup artist in the International PRO Team MAC Cosmetics, she was also a product innovator, creating sell-out lipstick shades in collaboration with designers Ksubi and Morrissey. She was also part of the MAC product testing panel.
